Join your Kirkland neighbors on December 2nd for an evening of caroling, hot cocoa, a giant snow globe photobooth, and the second annual musical holiday lights on the Cross Kirkland Corridor! The snow-globe will be ready for photos starting at 4:30 p.m., and at 5:30 p.m. Mayor Amy Walen will flip the switch to turn on a show featuring 10,000 LED lights custom-programmed to holiday music by Google Kirkland engineers. Parking is limited, so those who can are encouraged to take public transportation, bike or walk to the show.

Kirkland Parks Foundation invites the community join in the holiday festivities by raising funds for a Santa’s mailbox located in downtown Kirkland for letters to Santa
The Kirkland Parks Foundation is inviting the community to join in the holiday spirit and help fund SANTA’S MAILBOX right here in Kirkland! The local non-profit hopes to raise $2,100 to give Kirkland’s children a place to mail their letters to Santa Claus with a commitment that each and every letter will be answered by Kirkland’s own Elves from the local Merrill Gardens senior living community.

On Saturday, October 22, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell joined Google to announce a $165,000 sponsorship to the National Park Foundation’s Open OutDoors for Kids, an initiative that helps connect more kids to their national parks through fun and engaging activities. The Kirkland Kids Triathlon at Juanita Beach Park gives youth, ages three through twelve, a chance to participate in a triathlon on Saturday, September 10th at 11:00 a.m. atJuanita Beach Park, 9703 NE Juanita Drive. The Kids Triathlon includes a 50-yard swim/splash, a half mile bicycle ride and a 400 yard run. Pre-registration is available on line at www.kirklandparks.net, course code 48081. Day of event registration opens at 10:00 a.m. and is subject to availability. Registration fee is $32 per participant and includes a swim cap, t-shirt, and participation ribbon. The race is non-timed, non-competitive and an excellent opportunity for youth to experience the sport of triathlon.
