Preparedness for People with Pets

The greater Seattle area is home to more companion animals than children. You’ve probably got at least one go-bag for you and your human family members. But what would you do with your four-legged family in case of an emergency?

Preparing Pets for Disasters helps responders prepare by teaching them how to identify and safely handle stressed animals, prepare for evacuation, and plan for sheltering in place with companion animals.

Learn fundamentals of animal behavior, tips emergency workers wish all pet owners knew, and what resources are available to you in case of an emergency.

Instructor Elise Poston consults with both livestock and companion animal owners to improve human-animal interactions. She is a member of the Washington State Animal Response Team’s Training Committee, the Pet Professionals’ Guild, and both CERT and ARES teams of the City of Redmond
