The Kirkland Parks and Community Services Department seeks public comment on a playground design for the possible replacement of the playground at Juanita Beach Park. This playground replacement accompanies the Juanita Beach Park bathhouse and picnic shelter projectthat was designed according to the park’s Master Plan.
Staff from Parks and Community Services will present the preferred design concept at the Park Board meeting on Wednesday, June 13, at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall (123 5th Ave). Public comment will be heard at this meeting. Additional feedback can be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The proposed design calls for an expanded playground, with two distinct sections accommodating kids aged two through five and five through twelve years of age. The new playground would be installed upon completion of the bathhouse in June 2019.
The park will undergo construction this fall, resulting in a new bathhouse, picnic shelters and the relocation of the playground. Construction plans called for the existing playground to be relocated to the new location. Due to the efforts of the Friends of Juanita Beach and Kirkland Parks Foundation, a new playground was designed, and those organizations are seeking to raise the funds needed to replace the current equipment with a new playground. Fundraising efforts will begin this summer in order to raise approximately $125,000 needed for this project.
