In October, the fourth-graders at Rockwell Elementary School led a food drive for Pantry Packs. This program provides food-insecure students in the Lake Washington School District with food to take home on the weekends.
One student, Barrett, was so inspired that he started his own Go Fund Me page to raise more money for the program. His initial goal was $500. The GoFundMe team took note of Barrett’s 32 individual supporters and named him a GoFundMe Kid Hero as part of Giving Tuesday. The recognition came with a $1,000 donation for Pantry Packs. As of Dec. 1, Barrett had raised $2,600 for Pantry Packs.
