The Puget Sound Business Journal is reporting that Seattle retailer Nordstrom is planning a 35,000 square-foot store in the Village at Totem Lake. The mixed-use development includes a cinema, apartments and retail including Whole Foods. EvergreenHealth announced today that Tina Mycroft, CPA, CGMA, has been named new senior vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) for the Kirkland-based health system. Mycroft was selected through an extensive national search, and replaces Chrissy Yamada who retired from EvergreenHealth in August after serving as CFO since 2004.

Seattle Pacific University President Emeritus David McKenna writes about his transition from leadership roles in higher education to becoming “just plain Dave” in a new community and new life. During his morning routine of walking the family dog around the streets of Kirkland, he meets more than 100 people and “discovers a new world where strangers become friends through the connection of our dogs.”
On August 19, 2017 the Seattle Times reported that Sound Transit negligently disclosed personal contact information for 173,000 ORCA pass holders to “Mass Transit Now,” the campaign arm of Transportation Choices Coalition. Mass Transit Now is running the campaign for Sound Transit’s $54 Billion ballot measure this fall. This was a violation of State laws. Since this was a mishandling of private information that was not subject to public disclosure and was also used for campaign purposes, a Pierce County citizen filed a formal complaint with the State Public Disclosure Commission (PDC). In his letter to the PDC he writes, “Sound Transit violated RCW 42.17A.555 by illegally releasing an exempt list of contact information to the campaign committee, Mass Transit Now, in violation of the Public Records Act. In addition to the PDC complaint, the Attorney Generals’ office and the King County Prosecutors office will be notified as well.”…
The City of Kirkland is conducting an online survey that will help identify community-preferred land use and zoning designations to the Houghton/Everest Neighborhood Center, as well as improvements to 6th Street South.
The City believes resident input is important in ensuring that the plan recognizes the community’s interests and needs and requests that anyone interested in sharing suggestions and insight do so at the project webpage…

City Manager Kurt Triplett has won the 2016 Award for Excellence, the Washington City/County Management Association’s (WCMA) top award that recognizes an outstanding administrator or manager who has enhanced the effectiveness of local elected officials and consistently initiated creative and successful programs. The award was presented Thursday, August 18, at the WCMA Summer Conference in Walla Walla, WA.
